Transportation Eligibility
Students are eligible for bus transportation if they live within the HCISD boundaries and meet the following distance requirements from their zoned school:
Elementary (K-5)
2+ miles
from home to school
Secondary (6-12)
2+ miles
from home to school
School Choice Students
Transportation is not guaranteed for school choice transfers. Families are responsible for transportation unless space is available on existing routes.
Bus Safety Guidelines
At the Bus Stop
- Arrive at the stop 5 minutes early
- Wait in a safe place, away from traffic
- Wait until the bus stops before approaching
- Use the handrail when boarding
On the Bus
- Remain seated while the bus is moving
- Keep hands and head inside the bus
- Follow driver instructions
- Keep the aisle clear
