Zavala Elementary holds the prestigious Apple Distinguished School designation alongside Crockett Elementary, recognizing its centers of innovation in education. The school offers a Dual Language Enrichment Program and strong community partnerships.

Beatrice Cruz
Bachelor's in Music Education from Evangel University, Master's in Educational Leadership from UTRGV, currently pursuing Doctorate from UTRGV
Beatrice Cruz has 23 years of experience in education. Throughout her time at HCISD, she has served as a paraprofessional and teacher at Zavala Elementary, an instructional coach at Treasure Hills Elementary, and most recently as assistant principal at Zavala. Zavala holds a very special place in her heart.
