Campus History
Travis STEM² Academy honors William Barret Travis, the heroic commander of the Alamo. Originally established in 1925, Travis Elementary has been a cornerstone of education in Harlingen for nearly a century. The campus was rebuilt at its current location in 1974 and remodeled in 2002. In August 2021, the school was officially designated as a STEM campus. Building on this success, the school achieved a transformative milestone in August 2025 by evolving into Travis STEM² Academy K-8 School of Innovation, becoming the district's first continuous K-8 STEM campus.
