Campus History
Stuart Place Elementary draws its name from the historic Stuart Place Tract, a 10,000-acre subdivision established around 1918 by brothers O.E. and R.T. Stuart. The school was formally established in 1923, making it one of the oldest continuously operating schools in the area. O.E. Stuart served as the first school board president, and the campus integrated into the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District in 1950. While the original 1923 building was replaced in 1982, the historic entrance was preserved. In March 2023, the school celebrated its centennial, honoring a century of serving as the heart of its community.
