Campus History
Sam Houston Elementary is named after the towering Texas figure who served as President of the Republic of Texas and Governor of two different U.S. states. The school embarked on a significant educational transformation in 2018 by entering the candidacy phase for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. After rigorous preparation and a commitment to inquiry-based learning, Sam Houston Elementary earned official IB World School status on December 2, 2020, joining Austin Elementary as one of HCISD's first elementary schools to achieve this prestigious designation.
