Campus History
Dr. Rodriguez Elementary honors Dr. Hesiquio Rodriguez (1919-1977), a pioneering physician and civil rights advocate who served on the school board and fought for equal education. The school opened to serve the growing Harlingen community and has evolved into a cornerstone of STEM education. In April 2021, the campus was officially designated as a STEM Academy, partnering with Discovery Education to integrate science, technology, engineering, and math curriculum. This designation fulfills Dr. Rodriguez's lifelong belief that education opens doors of opportunity.
