Welcome. My name is

Erin Ros Esquivel, a

proud eighth grader at

Memorial Middle School. And

this is Champions Check

in. Good morning. Welcome

to Memorial. I hope

you have a great

day. Good morning, Ms.

Flores. Good morning, Hermes.

Have a good day.

Okay, you too. At

Memorial Middle School,

excellence is not just

a goal, it's our

standard. We are proud

to be named the

top middle school by

the US World and

News Report of the

2024. 2025 school year.

Now let's move on

to one of my

favorite classes. Here we

design and build robots

to compete in competitions.

Mr. Oliva's robotics class

is where creativity and

technology come together.

Robotics is all about

creativity, problem solving

and teamwork. Robotics is

just one of many

exciting, exciting electives

at our school. Students

can also explore speech,

cte, art, band, choir

and orchestra. Plus we

have amazing clubs like

Student Council, fca,

Kindness Club, Hope Squad,

Chess Team, our regional

champions, along with speech,

drama and debate, and

one act play. Hey,

Coach Gaega, what's the

secret to Raider strength?

So one of the

secrets is that our

athletes, we tell them

that 92% of their

athletic career they'll spend

in the weight room

doing agilities, conditioning.

And also it's the

hard work and commitment

and never giving up.

This is where every

middle school journey begins.

Our sixth grade hall.

And over here is

our seventh grade hall,

where every student strives

for success. And over

here is our A

state hall. Our. Our

last stop to high

school. And where I

spend most of my

time learning and studying.

Oh, and did you

know that at Memorial

Middle School you can

earn high school credit?

Spanish classes and algebra

classes both count towards

high school. Hola. Buenos

dias, Ms. Moya. Hola.

Buenos dias. Here. Hello,

Mr. Mora. Hi, Hermes.

How are you doing?

Very good. In Mr.

Morda's class, we do

blended learning. Would you

like to tell them

a little bit more

about blended learning? My

students right now are

doing blended learning, which

is just a mixture

of online learning and

teacher to teacher. So

some kids learn better

using quizzes, gimkit and

other platforms like that.

Of course, also, they

benefit from the teacher

to teacher interaction, which

is happening right now

as well. Welcome to

the ILC this is

where students check, check

out books, study, work

on creative projects. We

even have our MakerSpace

with our 3D printers

and our Lego area.

We even have our

battle the Books teams

which compete against other

schools to see who

knows their books the

best. All thanks to

our amazing librarian, Ms.

Danner. Now, let's talk

about what makes us

a true Raider. Our

Raider pillars. Resilient

because we never give

up academic we work

hard both in and

out of the classroom.

Integrity we do what's

right, equ, even when

no one's watching. Dedicated.

We give 100% in

everything we do. Excellent.

We always strive to

be the best. Respect

we treat everyone with

kindness and respect. We

are a Raider Nation.

Gotta end this tour

off with a fist

bump from the man

himself. Woo. Raider Nation

is on another level

and we couldn't do

it without you, the

teachers and your amazing

staff. Thank you for

joining me on this

tour of our amazing

campus. Memorial is a

great place to learn,

grow and achieve great

things. This was Aramis

Esquivel and that was

Champions. Check in for

Campus History

Memorial Middle School traces its history back to December 1948, when Robert Everett Smith donated land in memory of his mother, Minnie B. Gay. Opening in 1949 as Minnie B. Gay Junior High School, it served as Harlingen's first junior high. In the 1990s, the school was renamed Memorial Middle School. After serving the community at its original location for over half a century, the campus moved to a state-of-the-art facility on Rio Hondo Road in August 2012, continuing its legacy with the iconic Raider mascot that was originally designed by a student in 1962.
