Campus History
Long Elementary honors Jane Wilkinson Long (1798-1880), the 'Mother of Texas' who survived a brutal winter on the Texas coast in 1821 and later became a prominent figure in the Austin colony. Established in 1985, the school embodies the resilience and pioneering spirit of its namesake. In 2025, the campus celebrated 40 years of learning, laughter, and lasting memories, carrying forward a legacy of determination and educational service to the Harlingen community.
