Why Choose Jefferson Elementary?
Jefferson Elementary features a Head Start program, 1:1 device-to-student ratio, digital classrooms, and a fully equipped Instructional Learning Center (ILC) for 21st century learning. The campus earned a $25,000 grant through the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation for the Project Fit America program and opened the 'Tiger Pit' fitness center in 2016. Known as the Tigers with the motto 'We are the best in the state of Texas,' students live by the Tiger Pledge and celebrate their school spirit through the Eye of the Tiger school song. The campus is recognized as a No Place for Hate Campus and a 2025 CREST Award winner for excellence in school counseling.

Campus History
Jefferson Elementary is named after Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), the third President of the United States and principal author of the Declaration of Independence. His legacy of championing democracy and education inspires the campus mission. Serving the Harlingen community for decades, Jefferson Elementary has developed into a hub for early childhood through fifth-grade education, establishing strong Head Start programs and a reputation for academic consistency and community involvement.
