Harlingen High School, established in 1913, is the flagship high school of HCISD with a rich 111-year history. Known for its 'Cardinal Spirit,' HHS offers diverse academic pathways including a Pre-Engineering Academy and 12 Career & Technical Academies. Best in the RGV!

Efrain Amaya
Bachelor of Science (UT-Pan American), Two Master's Degrees (Grand Canyon University)
Mr. Amaya is a proud graduate of Mission High School and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas-Pan American. He also holds two master's degrees from Grand Canyon University. He was most recently employed by the McAllen school district as a middle school principal and has held roles as principal at their district alternative education campus, as well as director, assistant principal, teacher, and coach.
