Campus History
Dishman Elementary honors James Henry Dishman (1858-1934), a pioneering rancher and philanthropist who shaped the Combes community. Dishman's generosity was legendary; he donated land for the railroad that created the town of Combes and later provided the site and funds for this school. Established in 1926 when Combes citizens integrated their school with the Harlingen School District, the current building was completed in 1930. Located in the rural community of Combes, the school has served generations of students, transforming over the decades into a top-ranked elementary campus.
